Baccarat

Baccarat is one of the oldest casino games to have been created and is to this day one of the most popular casino games which exist.  Introduced in France around the year 1500, Baccarat was a game reserved for the aristocracy.  Even nowadays, the idea of Baccarat is linked to that of high rollers.  The game of Baccarat is actually one in which the house edge is the lowest amongst casino games at 1.17%.
Online casinos have made it easier for all types of players to enjoy a good game of Baccarat.  An example is mini baccarat which is now being offered in many online casinos.  In this variation of Baccarat the rules have been simplified and bet requirements decreased.
Between 6 and 8 card decks are used at a time to play Baccarat with between 12 and 14 players being seated at a table.  The important thing to note when it comes to Baccarat is that players bet against the house and have three betting options which are betting on the banker (banco), the player (punto) or a tie (standoff).  Simply put, Baccarat is about correctly guessing who between the banker and the player will receive the highest cards or if the hand will end in a tie.
Once bets have been placed, the banker will deal 2 cards each to players and himself which are then revealed and tabulated.  According to the outcome of the hand, a third card can be drawn to the player or he can stand.  In Baccarat, all tens and face cards are worth zero while cards 2 through 9 are worth their numerical value and Aces are worth 1.  This means that a hand made up of a 7 and a Queen will have a total value of 7.  For any hand value which exceeds 10, 10 must be removed from the total to get the final result.  For instance a hand made up of a 6, a Jack and a 9 will be equal to 5.  Any hand that totals 0 is considered Baccarat.
Other rules applicable to Baccarat regard the hand totals and corresponding actions by the player and dealer.  If the total of the 2 cards receives comes up to 8 or 9, the cards must be turned over.  If both the player and dealer have a total of 9 or 8 the hand is considered a tie.  If either the player or dealer has a 6 or 7 he must stand.  If the player stands on a 6 or 7 the dealer must hit on a score lesser than 5.  If the dealer has a 4 he must draw if the player's card is 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7.  If the dealer has a 6 he must draw if the player's card is a 6 or 7.  If the dealer has an 8 he must stand.
